New Health Care Transparency Rules, What Employers Need to Know to Comply

Christine Zinter, Bullard Law

Recorded on Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Between the Transparency in Coverage Rule and new group health plan regulations and reporting requirements promulgated as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 – most notably the No Surprises Act – employer plan sponsors and health plan issuers face additional federal reporting requirements in 2022. While health insurers will bear the brunt of the reporting requirements, even employers with fully insured health plans have a part to play. All the pricing information in the world will not help to lower costs if employees do not make use of these new consumer tools. The savvy employer will take an active role in teaching its workforce to shop for cost-effective care and be able to demonstrate how wise care decisions have a direct impact on families’ health care expenditures.

Chrisstine Zinter, Bullard Law
Christine Zinter is an ERISA/Employee Benefits attorney with Bullard Law with decades of experience working with group health plans. Christine spent over 20 years working as a Portland-based employee benefits consultant until the rollout of the Affordable Care Act inspired to her go to law school. Christine brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience with employee benefit plan rules and regulations including ERISA, the ACA, state insurance laws and mandates, and the multiple other Federal and state regulations that employee benefit plans are subject to. In addition to health and welfare benefits, Christine’s practice covers retirement plans, including pension, profit sharing and other deferred compensation plans, as well as employment law matters particularly concerning the COVID-19 crisis and the continuing promulgation of rules and other guidance from the DOL, CDC, OSHA, and other state specific governing bodies.

In her spare time, Christine enjoys game nights, travel, and hanging out with her two German Shepherds and way too many cats.
